Christmas Weekend

Christmas Abel

Pheebs, Abel and I had our first Christmas open house at the weekend where we invited our friends and family to drop in for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. We were extremely pleased at the number of folks who dropped in and it was certainly a great way to catch up with everyone. We think this might turn into a regular yearly event but perhaps we’ll make less cakes and biscuits next time otherwise we’ll have too much leftover……

A big thanks to our friends and family who make the effort to attend! ๐Ÿ™‚

Cornwall 2012

Carbis Bay

Pheebs, Abel and I have just spent 2 weeks in Cornwall on holiday which was very pleasant and definitely beat sat at a desk working. We broke the holiday into two parts and the first week we spent exploring the St Ives area and stayed at the Gonwin Manor luxury cottages. We spent the majority of the time visiting the vast number of National Trust properties in the area as we had a family membership which allowed us free entry. Highlights of that week included some interesting walks, talking to some interesting people (it’s amazing how many people want to talk to you when you’ve got a kid!), enjoying a family Jacuzzi (not sure what Abel really thought of that!) and getting to the centre of the maze at Gendurgan!

From there we then moved up into Deven to Kingbridge near Salcombe and stayed at Lower Coombe Royal which was another self catering apartment, but not first without meeting up with Alex, Emma and little Jasmine for lunch in Tavistock! Highlights of that week included a visit to the National Maritime Museum, wandering around Totnes and getting Abel’s foot prints on some plates (that was interesting!).

It was certainly great to escape from work and spend some time with the family but doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun!

A Weekend in Rye

The Harrison Clan

Pheebs, Abel and I escaped for a long weekend in Rye near the Harbour but did stop off on-route for a surprise visit to see Jim, Shireen and Veronica which I had no idea about. The cottage itself was very pleasant but in a little bit of a strange location. Still, it was very close to the beach and we did enjoy wandering around the vast empty beach with the sun shinning.

We also managed to meet up with Ike, Sofie and little Vinnie which was cool as we’d not seem them for a little while.

Ike, Sofie and Vinnie

Glad we managed to have a nice family weekend and meet up with a couple of old friends. We’ll just have to ensure we don’t leave it too long next time.

A weekend in Fowey

View from the Cormorant

Just spent a nice long weekend at the The Cormorant Hotel in Fowey, Cornwall with Pheebs. This is actually the hotel in which we got engaged at so it was quite nice to return to the scene of the crime so to speak. The view from any hotel room, the food and wine quality were just as good as I remembered. We even returned back to the Lost Gardens of Heligan which whilst is still a magical place, wasn’t quite as vibrant as it was in spring. Still, it was a very pleasant weekend away with my wife. ๐Ÿ˜‰
