After take off we sat staring at the screen and eventually the TV came on it was the Simpson’s. When that was finished we tried to sleep as all the cabin lights went off as we flew into the night. Some time later Debs and I stirred we had been flying for 8 hours which meant only a few more4 to go before we got back to sunny England. What seemed like ages breakfast arrived and a film came on. We both watched that and when it had finished there was only 1/2 hour to go. We both felt a bit nervous as we had not seen our parents for 3 months. Half an hour later we had landed and went through passport control and then collected our bags. We put all our stuff on a trolley and went cleanly through customs. (Lucky Debs had the bomb well!) As we walked out into the arrival hall Debs Dad spotted us and pulled us over. It was nice to see them but no Mum or Luce. We talked for a while and 15 minutes later I spotted them. It was good to see them again. We talked for a while and then we said bye to Charlotte as Tom had arrived. We then left the airport. I went with Luce and Mum back to Debs house. Chris cooked us all breakfast and it was great. I showed some of the photo’s and then we went back home. It was strange being back and the kitchen had changed. I walked around for a while and then Lucy took me out to get a stereo. We popped into see Alex and then went home. I had dinner and then went down the One Oak to see the boys. (Neil, Steve, Matt) and then Tim, Dave and everyone else. After a few pints I nearly fell asleep. I was taken home by Tim and collapsed into bed and fell asleep alone….What an experience!!!

Kuta -> Bangkok

Woke up early and bounced out of bed. ~We walked up the road to the restaurant and had porridge and tea. We were again hassled into stuff but he was told to go away. We then went back and got our beach gear. We walked down to the beach, and had time laying there. Giles and I went for a dip but the waves were not strong as last time. Giles and Charlotte went off to have breakfast and Debs and I lay in the sun reading for a while longer. We then went back to our room and had a shower and finished packing. We left the room paid for it and went for lunch up the road. Following that we got a mini bus to take us to the airport for 8000. Once we were there Giles left us for the domestic terminal and we sat around the check in area playing scrabble while we waited for the check in time to arrive. When it did we said goodbye to our luggage and moved to the departure lounge. The flight to Bangkok was not too bad and we arrive 3 1/2 hours later. We transferred to the transfer desk and picked our tickets up. We then sat around for hours reading, playing cards, eating, cheese and crisp sandwiches and staring Indians out. (Wow brought back memories of being in India) Eventually our flight came up and then a little while later the gate number. We then walked to our gate and watched TV while we waited to board. And again after another wait we boarded the plane. My seat was duplicated and had to move away from Debs bit it soon got fixed and sat next to her and we then took off.

Kuta

Well we both woke up with slight hangovers. I managed to get up and head down the supermarket to get some water and paracetemol as she was and to get out of bed. We then got ready and walked up the road to have a good breakfast we then wandered through Kuta looking for sarongs to buy! I bought some more kinky trousers and then we walked back towards our room. We stopped at a sarong place and managed to get 6 to 36 thousand which was a really good deal. We returned to our room and dumped the shopping off. We then walked to McDonalds for lunch and then went to get some bread and batteries. We again walked back to our room and got out beach gear ready. We hit the beach and the sea. The waves were really big and we both had fun diving and being stupid in the sea. Giles made a guest appearance for a while and then went back and had a shower. We then spent a while packing our stuff and playing cards. Giles and Charlotte turned up and we went out to dinner and watched a film. Dinner was good but the film was far too cheesy. Giles and Charlotte went back to their room and Debs and I stayed for a while before returning to our room. She then left to say goodnight to Charlotte. Debs and I read for a while and then went to sleep excited that we were going home tomorrow.

Ubud -> Kuta

Woke up a couple of times as I needed to go to the toilet and then slept to 8.30am. We well Debs got me a cup of tea and ordered breakfast for us. We ate that and continued to pack the rest of our stuff up. We then left our homestead and walked down the road to catch a demo to take us straight to Kuta. Once we were there Debs and I left our gear with Giles and Charlotte while we looked for rooms. We found two rooms round the corner from each other. We then got our stuff and dumped it back at the room. We then went for lunch at the pizza place. Afterwards we went and got our beach stuff together and then walked to the beach. The sea was great and caused Debs bikini to fly off due to the waves. WE spent the afternoon here and early evening we returned to our room to get ready to go out. We walked to the pizza place and had a few beers. We then moved to the chilling as Bob Dylan bar and ate dinner. We then took a long walk through Kuta to the Bounty. It was empty but as soon as happy hour came about it soon filled up. We drunk some more and then hit the dance. Debs and I went into dotty dancing much to the surprise of Charlotte. It was a good night out. We left later on and walked down the road to McDonalds followed by a stagger home. As soon as we got to our room we then passed out.

Ubud

Woke up with smiley face who then got up and made the tea. After a civilised tea in bed the only thing missing was the paper. After that Debs ordered breakfast which we ate quite quickly. We then bumped into Giles and Charlotte. We all walked to the post office to see if Debs had anymore mail of which the outcome was none! We then went to the bank where I got Charlotte some money after which we split up. Debs and I spent the morning walking around looking for stuff to buy as presents. We also went into the market and brought a cheap bag. We then walked back via the supermarket back to our room and dumped the bag off. It was then a trip to Pewa Warung for that all important cheap meal which of course was good. Afterwards we relaxed by our room. Giles and Charlotte went to the swimming pool while Debs and I walked around Ubud getting presents for Debs folk. We stopped for an ice cream and then walked to the post office and phoned home. After which we returned to our room. We played scrabble for the rest of the afternoon. Evening time Giles and Charlotte went off to see the barong dance. We chilled and then went out to dinner up the road. We then walked back to our room and after a brief visit from Charlotte and Giles we went to sleep.

Ubud

Had a really nice sleep in a comfortable bed. Got up and got the tea (under command!) Ordered breakfast and ate that (cause it was well nice) After breakfast we got ready to go out to the Kantor Pos (Post Office) to collect some letters sent from home. We sat and read those outside on the step. We then walked to the bank where I used the magic of plastic. We then spent the rest of the morning looking for presents to buy the rest of the family this included a coffee and chocolate cake shop. We then walked back to our room and met Charlotte and Giles. We then went to lunch at our cheap place up the road. Afterwards we went out again and started buying pressys. I brought a mask for Dad and a wind chime for Nan and Mum. Debs and I brought a man for James. After our first shopping spree we went back and rested. We then went back out. Giles and I went back to the blowpipe man and I got one. We then went to the supermarket I got loads of joss sticks and Samoa spicy sauce. We returned to our rooms we all chilled for a while and then again Giles and I returned to the supermarket where I got some fags for everyone else back at home and some Bali coffee for M & D. Back at the room later I played guitar. We then all went out to a cheap place (Dewa Warang) for dinner. After that we went back and played scrabble whilst Giles played guitar. Afterwards I played the guitar followed by Giles and Charlotte going to bed. We sat up for a while before turning in.

Gili Trawangan -> Ubud

Woke up early ordered breakfast and finished packing. Once we were ready we left and walked down the road to where we had to catch the shuttle boat to Lombok. The boat trip did not take that long but we did get a little wet on the way. Once we got to Lombok we waited for a while before a bus took us to another bus station. This bus took us to the ferry station at Lemb. From here we had a 4 1/2 hour ferry trip back to Bali. The trip was not that bad apart from all the Indonesian men staring at Debs, but they got out stared by me. Once we made it to Panedanfeli we got on a coach that drove us to Ubad. It only took one hour. Once we arrived in Ubad we walked to the place we stayed at before. We met Charlotte and Giles there, and we both got change4d and all went out to dinner. The food was OK but it took a while to cook, as the place only had one cooker. After that we walked back to our rooms. I played Guitar for a while and Debs read. After a bit we decided to go to sleep as we had deserved it after a long day travelling from Gili Trawangan.

Gili Tawangan

The sun is shinng and we are sitting in an excellent restaurant about to eat chip butties. We have had a fab holiday but now it’s time to go home and we are looking forward to it… 6 days to go Woke up for the eighty sixth time, smiley face was next to me. We lay in bed for a while reading. I finished the sticky bun book and we then got breakfast. After which we did some packing as we were leaving for Ubud tomorrow. Once some of that task was finished we got out beach gear ready and went out. We shopped at the excellent restaurant for a chip butty and I also had a coffee. We then walked to the beach and found a spot to settle for the day. The day was good sitting chilling on the sand with the sun shinning above. We had lunch via a trip to noodle woman cause it was cheap. We met James and his mates on the beach and got him to take a cheesy photo of Debs and me on the beach. We showed him the developed photos of India and then off he went. We were going to meet him at the party later. We left the beach at 4pm and returned to the hut got changed and played scrabble. After which we walked into town and entered the Tragangan restaurant for a beer while watching Casino. After the film we walked to the party and found James again but alas he disappeared. We left later and walked down the beach to our hut and went to sleep unhappy that we did not get James address.

Gili Tiwangan

Woke up with Charlotte saying goodbye as her and Giles were making their way to Candidasa to buy some stuff. Debs and I lay in bed for a while and then I ordered breakfast for myself as I was diving again. I got my stuff ready and said bye to Debs and made the long way to the dive centre. Once I was there I got my gear ready. We then got on the boat and met my buddy Oliver from Holland. Once we got to the dive site we got our kit together and dived in we made our way to 28 metres and saw lots of life including a stonefish! After that I walked down the beach and found Debs sunbathing on her own. I then went and had lunch in the usual place. After lunch I sat on the beach for a while. After which I walked back to the dive centre. After a short wait we got back on the boat and on to the next dive site. The dive was to about 22 metres and I saw a giant clam about a metre long. It was amazing! I also saw a turtle as he swam through the water. After the dive I returned to meet Debs on the beach. We lay on the beach for a while and then went back to our hut got changed to go out. We then walked into town and to the Trawangan restaurant where we met James. Joey was not with him as he flipped out in Thailand. We sat talking to James and said we would meet him on the beach. We then walked all the way back to our little hut and went to bed.

Gili Taiwangan

Woke up as per usual with the bloody cockerel waking up. I found someone to get Debs and I breakfast. We ate that and I prepared my stuff so to go diving for the morning. I was finally able to clear my ears. Debs walked to the dive centre with me as she wanted to buy some more suntan lotion. I said goodbye to her as I had made it to the dive centre. I found Carol and had a cup of coffee whilst we waited for Megan to return from an early morning dive. I then got my gear ready. I was diving with Carol and going to complete the navigation skills for the Advanced Padi course. Once we had reached the dive site we got kited up and entered the water into a mass of small jelly fish. We descended down to about 6 metres and did some stuff with the compass. Afterwards we arrived on to explore the reef. I saw lots of small fish and a cuttlefish. After that we did a safety stop and surfaced. Getting on the boat was fun due to the swell. Anyway I eventually returned to the beach and found Debs. When Giles and Charlotte turned up we walked up the beach to get some lunch. The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the beach. I returned about 4ish to get my stuff together for the night dive. I then walked up to the dive centre and got my gear and then got on the boat. The dive was really good and we saw a puffer fish at 22 metres. I touched him and it was quite slimy. Anyway the moon could be seen from the sea and it looked very mellow. Once the dive had finished I tried to find the others but failed so I had dinner on my own next door to our hut. I then broke into our hut and waited for Debs to return. When she did we lay around for a while and went to sleep.
